Raid is using multiple disks to improve performance and reliability on servers and computers. Hard Drives fail and that’s a fact of life. If properly implemented a dead hard drive won’t affect you at all if your using raid. If your server has hot swappable hard drives you can even pull out the dead drive and pop in a new one. If your server or computer doesn’t have raid built in don’t worry you can simply buy a raid controller for it. RAID is an acronym for Redundant array of inexpensive disks.

Here is a great full explanation of all the raid levels with pictures, benefits and disadvantages to each raid level. http://www.acnc.com/04_01_00.html

My favorite part about the HBH-608 is that the ear piece doesn’t have to go in your ear. It kinda sits outside your ear. You can find them on Amazon for under $20. A very good deal if you ask me. I highly recommend these over the Plantronics or Motorola’s.

A list of the places I shop to get the best deals on my geek gear.

MonoPrice.Com – The best place for cables. Cat5, HDMI, VGA.

RecoupIT.com – Really good for Used desktops, LCD monitors and TV’s. I bought a refurbished TV from here saving about $300 and It came in perfectly brand new condition. I’ve also made recommendations for others to by desktops from here, cheapest I’ve found.

TigerDirect.com – While the prices may be slightly higher than NewEgg, they do offer local shops in some areas which is nice, and the pricing is usually competitive. I haven’t liked them since they turned all of there stores into CompUSA, They’ve changed policies and are becoming more and more like a Best Buy every day. I still shop there.

NewEgg.com – Free shipping on a ton of products, and usually very competitive prices. Great customer service and a ton of reviews.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane It’s USB 3.0 Super Speed. Able to transfer a 25GB file in under 70 seconds. The other benefits of USB 3.0 include being able to charge devices faster like your cell phone or digital camera. It also has more voltage power so you can power more devices from a single hub.

USB 3.0 is 10X faster than USB 2.0 reaching maximum speeds of 4.8Gbs. Of course to get those speeds you’ll need to be using a Super Speed cable, ports and devices.

USB 3.0 will be backwards compatible with 1.0 and 2.0 because of the way it is designed.

The final design of USB 3.0 will be Revealed Monday November 17th at the Super Speed USB Developers Conference.
