How to backup your software installation CD’s/DVD’s

This guide will show you how to make Physical or Digital copies of your software installation CD’s such as your Windows 7 Installation CD, or Microsoft Office 2010.

CD’s and DVD’s can get lost, scratched, or damaged so it’s best to backup copies of them in case you need them in the future. An even better Idea is to create a digital copy on your hard drive so you can burn a copy whenever you need it. Image backups are stored as ISO files.

Download and install IMG Burn (Freeware)
Insert the CD/DVD you wish to copy
Launch IMG Burn
Choose the option create image file from disc

Then choose the location to save the backup copy
If you want to burn a physical copy insert a blank CD/DVD
Then Choose the option write Image file to disc and select the image file/ISO from your computer.

Windows 7 God Mode can be enabled in about 30 seconds. God mode is window’s secret way of accessing over 100 Windows 7 tools and settings all in one place. I’m a power user so I use these tools all the time. I don’t have to hunt them down anymore.

To enable God mode Create A new folder on your desktop or anywhere else. Rename it to this

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} Now You’ll notice the icon will change to the God Mode Icon Above. Open the folder. This will also work on Windows Vista but 64Bit users have experienced problems. Also you can name GodMode Anything such has Anything.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Microsoft’s Free Antivirus Put to the Test.

PCWorld Reports that AV-Test.Org has put Microsoft’s New Anti Virus to the test.

Microsoft Security Essentials Detected 98.44 percent of viruses out of 545,034. However it wasn’t that great at detecting Spyware and Ad-ware only detecting 90.95 percent. In my opinion not many AV programs are. Two programs I recommend for spyware and adware are Spyware Doctor Starter Edition, and Malware Bytes Anti Malware, Both are Free and Deathly effective.

Overall, Microsoft Security Essentials did better than I expected, However I’m not ready to switch from my current AV which is Avira Free Edition. However If you are a corporation or small business it could be very cost effective since most AV Free editions cannot be used for businesses.
